CBI (The Centre for Business Initiative) based in the famous London landmark, Centre Point, required a new reception desk located within the main entrance of the building to greet patrons who were visiting and making use of their conference facilities. The brief was to create a desk large enough to accommodate a maximum of 4 receptionists at once who would greet visitors and log them in before they entered the main space within the Mezzanine bridge building.

The initial design discussions with the client indicated that they wanted a fluid modern sculptural desk which would complement the angular structure of the building, which is most apparent in the entrance area of the building.

Corian was used to form continuous curvilinear surfaces in both plan and section, with underlighting to give the sense that the desk hovered over the polished floor. The structure of the desk as well as a complex graphic logo was produced using vectorised computer technology and a close working relationship with both the contractor and the desk fabricator.
