“Reclaim The Streets” was a competition launched among the international architecture press, in an effort to reintegrate skateboarders and other subclutures, back into everyday society, and try to dispel the attitude of the general public that they are a general nuisance to everyday society.

We designed the PLR system (Path of Least Resistance) which was an infinite, transportable modular system which could unfold in any urban environment
Technology derived from existing raised access floor pedastels, contiguous caterpillar tracks, and composite hyoerbolic aluminium panelling. The infinite nature and possibilities of the component parts allow for an adaptable amorphic layout which can overcome a multitude of street obstacles such as steps, walls, handrails or otherwise un-skateable terrain.

The system could ‘ribbon’ in and out of existing dilapidated buildings or stairwells regenerating derelict structures within the urban fabric of our cities and town centres. As reinforced concrete technology develops, the PLR system can be utilised as a basis for formwork to construct a more permanent structure as and when required.
