We Are Hiring!

BLOCK NINE ARCHITECTS is a friendly, design-based studio located in central Edinburgh.  We are seeking a talented, enthusiastic and proactive Architect and experienced Part 2 Architectural Assistant to join our growing team.

Portobello, Edinburgh

Applicants should be highly motivated and analytical in their thinking, with a minimum Part 2 qualification with several years’ experience in practice, or an Architect with 2-3 years’ experience who will enjoy performing all aspects of architectural work, including conceptual design and technical detailing, as well as overseeing projects during construction on site. You will be involved in a variety of projects, ranging from high-end new-build design to detailed refurbishment and conservation work, from inception through to completion.

Candidates should have excellent design skills, good 3D rendering presentation techniques and have the ability to work on a number of projects concurrently, independently and as part of a team. Good experience with AutoCAD, Sketchup, Photoshop and InDesign is essential.

Our portfolio of work includes exciting new projects within the Residential and Commercial sectors, as well as within the Education, Hotel and Arts and Culture sectors. Projects are based primarily in Scotland, the UK and the Caribbean.

All members of our team benefit from dealing directly with our clients and consultants, so a good balance of friendliness and professionalism is essential. We take pride in our work and enjoy what we do, with an atmosphere in our studio which is professional but relaxed. We are seeking someone who will enjoy working with us and contribute to the ambitions of the practice.

If you would like to apply for the position, please email your CV and portfolio to our Studio Manager, Rebecca Standish, at info@block9architects.com.

We will be accepting applications from candidates themselves, and regret no applications through recruitment agencies will be considered.
