Chester Street
New Town

  • Location: Edinburgh, Scotland

    Construction Value: £550,000

    Client: North

  • A developer client purchased this 4 storey Grade B listed townhouse in the West End of Edinburgh’s New Town which had been converted to office use, with a view of converting it back to residential use class.

Much of the Georgian detail was still intact, and the building did not lend itself easily to subdivision of the property. Strong resistance was met by the Local Authority to ensure that the original plasterwork and ironmongery was not disrupted however, through careful and sensitive liaising with the Conservation department, consent was granted for the subdivision of the townhouse into three flats which were refurbished to a very high specification.

The three flats were sold together to a commercial buyer, and are now being rented in short term lets as high end holiday apartments.
