Container Park
Linlithgow

  • Location: Linlithgow, West Lothian

    Client: Private Client

  • The site, based in an industrial area to the north west of Linlithgow is part of our clients existing portfolio. Their aim for the project was to redevelop the site to create a number of self-contained units comprising storage / workshop area and a small office space with WC and Kitchenette facilities. Each unit is formed from two 40ft shipping containers.

We initially undertook a measured survey of the existing site and prepared sketch proposals exploring how to maximise the potential opportunities on the site, while balancing the number and types of units which could be accommodated, and ensuring the necessary access for pedestrians and vehicles. Once the preliminary design was approved by the client, we coordinated closely with the planning consultant and prepared planning application drawings to be submitted for full planning approval.

The primary frontage of the units contains a roller access door into the storage / workshop area and glazed door into the office space, while the gable ends of the container are clad in vertical timber cladding and the roof being a mono-pitched single ply membrane. The interior took the form of two main components – the storage / workshop areas which are accessed externally via a roller door to the front of the unit and connected to the office space by double doors. While the office space contained room to accommodate a desk, kitchenette area and staff WC.

The redevelopment of the site will allow our client bring a number of much needed small units to the letting market which is in high demand within the area.
