Pulse nightclub was a new business venture for an existing client who owns several successful nightclub venues across central London. Located in the vaulted archways on the Southside of the new network rail development on Blackfriars Bridge, we were appointed to undertake detailed design for landlord, licensing and building regulation compliance as well as detailed design for construction.
As excessive property values drive the gentrification of many areas of central London which were considered to be less salubrious only 20 years ago, the siting of new residential developments has clashed and forced the shutdown of many of the renowned nightclub venues around the city centre, however Pulse has continued to thrive in London’s subculture and has become central London’s largest surviving venue. The gritty industrial aesthetic defies the investment and technological installations to ensure the venue runs without disruption from trains overhead, cars on the busy Southwark Road outside, and with the excessive temperatures which thousands of revellers generate within the venue.
Initially, our computer generated imagery and animations for the venue’s marketing, facilitated the pre-letting of the venue on all operational nights before the works to convert were completed. The club has since been fully booked by promoters and corporate events since its opening in 2011.
We continue to offer full architectural and lead consultant services to our clients to ensure the venue accommodates the demand of an ever increasing capacity, tighter licensing controls, ever increasing acoustic attenuation requirements, as well as the expectations of clientele who expect to be amazed with the latest state of the art audio visual installations.
