Douglas Wright

Architect

Douglas undertook his architectural training at the University of Edinburgh, which culminated in a Master of Architecture with Distinction.  His career spans a broad range of experience, including a formative role as a designer at Heatherwick Studio in London, where he contributed to a range of global projects of various scales and work stages. 

Driven by a passion for elegant, thoughtful design, Douglas continues to hone his craft, focusing on the seamless integration of form with function.  His approach is characterised by a meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that each project not only meets the highest standards of aesthetics but also enhances the built environment and human experience.

Since joining Block Nine, Douglas has been brought on to a number of residential and commercial development projects around Edinburgh.  From redesigning commercial office spaces and drawing up plans for listed residential townhouses, to developing high-end private dining restaurant layouts and monitoring progress on site for existing residential projects.

With a keen eye for innovation and a deep respect for tradition, Douglas is committed to shaping spaces that inspire and endure.

Outside the office, Douglas likes to lead an active lifestyle and enjoys tennis and running.
