Matthew Thomson

Architectural Assistant

Matthew graduated from the University of Dundee in 2022, where he specialised in large-scale housing and community-driven projects.  He began his career with a local practice, where he gained invaluable experience designing bespoke housing solutions.  This role sparked his growing passion for sustainable design, spatial organisation, and technical detailing.

Matthew joined BLOCK NINE at the beginning of 2025 and has quickly become a valuable asset to the team, supporting on a variety of projects – from industrial builds to intricate historic conversions and high-end residential projects.  He is eager to continue evolving as an Architect by exploring innovative approaches to design and furthering his professional growth.

Outside of architecture, Matthew is an avid football fan, enjoys exploring new cities, and seizes every chance to indulge in Greek cuisine!
